Proper wellness and preventative care are critical for the long and healthy life of your pet - and we care just as much about that as you do!
During your yearly well pet exam, we will perform a thorough examination of your pet's entire body, test for parasites, perform wellness blood screening, update vaccinations, and provide recommendations on nutrition, exercise, and behavior. These exams help build a baseline of your pet’s overall health and allow us to more easily detect issues should they arise in the future.

Bringing home a new puppy or kitten is one of the most exciting things a family can do. They’re squishy balls of joyful fluff, and you get to
experience them growing and changing for years to come. From the second their paws hit the floor of your home, there are steps you can take to set you and your new best friend up for a happy and healthy life. We like to see all puppies and kittens at monthly intervals, around the ages of 8, 12, and 16 weeks. These consults include a full examination, vaccinations, and important education on your growing pet. For puppies, we recommend starting to socialize in a safe environment to promote overall health and development. Our Pups ‘R Us class is a great place to start!

As our pets age and change, their medical needs change as well. To address and meet these needs, we will switch your pet to twice-yearly
after they turn seven years old. Appointments will remain relatively unchanged, with a thorough examination of your pet's entire body, testing for parasites, performing a wellness blood screening, updating vaccinations, and providing recommendations on nutrition, exercise, and behavior. However, scheduling these appointments twice a year gives us a closer look into what’s happening with your pet and allows us to detect aging-related problems earlier when treatment can be more effective.

Dental hygiene is just as important to animals as it is to humans. And, unfortunately, if your pet’s teeth aren’t appropriately cared for it can cause
periodontal disease (and other dental diseases), which can affect their quality of life. Our veterinarians have sought out extensive post-graduate training in advanced dentistry and, in many situations, are able to save teeth that would otherwise need to be extracted. To keep your dog or cat’s pearly whites in tip-top shape, we recommend annual cleanings and regular at-home brushing.

Managing and caring for a pet with behavioral issues (separation anxiety, inappropriate elimination, aggression, etc) can be a daunting
task. You want nothing more than to do the right thing for them, making their life (and your own!) easier and less stressful. By alerting your veterinarian to these issues, we can perform an exam to see what may be causing the problem, provide guidance and recommended changes (medication as needed), or, if necessary, direct you to a local behavior specialist.

With our in-house lab and state-of-the-art equipment, we are able to take a stool, urine, ear, etc. sample and get an up-close look at what may be bothering
your pet. This allows us to look closely at the cytology, diagnose the problem, and layout a clear treatment plan based on our findings. We also have an in-house pharmacy for a majority of your pet's medication needs - which means less time wasted driving to pick up meds!

Emergencies don’t care what time of day it is, and neither do we. If something is wrong with your pet, we are always a phone call away
and ready to assist. Should an after-hours emergency arise, please call our main line at 952-447-4118 where you will be greeted by a live operator at our answering service. You’ll be asked a series of questions and your information will be immediately sent to our on-call doctor. You will then receive a callback, so do your best to stay calm and near the phone. Our veterinarian will talk you through their recommendations for the next best steps and ensure your pet gets whatever care may be necessary.

Surgery is a scary word, there is no doubt about that. And while there are many different reasons why your pet may need to undergo
a surgical procedure (routine spays/neuters, oral, emergency, etc), we do our best to educate each client on what the entire process, start to finish, will look like for their pet. We are fully equipped with a surgical suite and digital x-ray facilities, but should your case require a more complex surgery, we can refer you to one of several surgical specialists in the Twin Cities area.
